Spike in Air Pollution Expected Over 4th of July

This week, thousands of Yolo and Solano County residents will celebrate Independence Day with family and friends, backyard celebrations and…fireworks.  Officials at the Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District (YSAQMD) want everyone, especially those with respiratory difficulties, to have a safe and fun 4th of July.  Follow these tips to avoid smoke from fireworks:

  • Stay upwind of firework displays
  • Close windows and doors during prime hours for fireworks (9-11 p.m.)
  • Keep individual health conditions in mind when viewing firework shows
