Guidance for LNU Lightning Complex Debris and Demolition Cleanup

As residents begin the grueling process of recovery in the aftermath of the LNU Lightning Complex fires, the District is providing guidance to assist in the safe removal of debris from impacted areas. The debris and ash from homes and structures that are damaged or destroyed by fire can contain asbestos and other hazardous materials. Ash and building materials such as drywall, insulation, tiles and more may contain asbestos, if inhaled can cause serious health effects.

Yolo-Solano AQMD regulates asbestos testing, surveying and removal in specific instances. To assist cleanup efforts YSAQMD has developed a chart to assist in determining if the cleanup project being conducted would be required to comply with these regulations.
