HVIP Funding Incentives for Zero-Emission or Near-Zero Emission Vehicles Opening Soon
California’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) will be opening soon for new voucher requests. The HVIP program makes transitioning to zero-emission or near-zero emission technologies more affordable by offering vouchers used for point-of-purchase price reductions with participating dealers. The California Air Resource Board (CARB) began this program in 2009 and most recently allocated $25 million to continue HVIP this year.
The Program is administered by CALSTART, a national clean transportation nonprofit consortium, on behalf of CARB. Funding for FY 20/21 will provide base voucher amounts ranging from $20,000 to $150,000, depending on the vehicle you purchase. Individual owner-operators, small businesses, corporate leaders, school districts, and municipal fleets are all eligible. Eligible vehicles include heavy and medium-duty coach buses, refuse trucks, school buses and shuttles, heavy-duty on-road tractors, straight trucks, step vans, and ePTO vehicles.
HVIP will reopen in spring 2021 following the release of the FY 20/21 Implementation Manual. If you are interested in the program please use the links below to learn more about this opportunity and check back on the Funding Status Page.
When looking for clean transportation options and developing project funding plans, dealers often can provide grant processing assistance and coordination for your organization.
