The District offers various grants to reduce air pollution emissions associated with agricultural operations. Agricultural Chipping Voucher Program
The District was awarded funding by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2021 Targeted Airshed Grant (TAG) Program to develop a Pilot Agricultural Chipping Program. The grant award will provide financial incentives to farmers to encourage chipping of agricultural materials as an alternative to open burning.
Voucher Funding Amount:
- $600 per acre for chipping projects with soil incorporation; or
- $500 per acre for chipping projects without soil incorporation.
Applicants are eligible to receive funding for a maximum of 80 acres.

Low-Dust Nut Harvester Replacement Program
The District was awarded funding by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2021 Targeted Airshed Grant (TAG) Program to administer a low-dust harvester equipment replacement grant program. The program will offer funding for the purchase of new low-dust harvesting equipment resulting in a reduction of particulate matter emitted within the District and the Sacramento Federal PM2.5 Nonattainment Area. Eligible applicants may receive up to 60% of the eligible costs of a new piece of equipment, up to $49,000.

Electric UTV Program
The District’s Electric UTV Program offers monetary vouchers to local agricultural operations to support the transition from diesel or gasoline-powered UTVs to zero-emission UTVs. Funding is provided by the California Air Resources Board’s FARMER Program and Yolo County. Qualifying applicants may receive a monetary voucher for up to 75% of the eligible cost of new equipment, with a maximum funding amount of $13,500. Yolo County applicants may be eligible to receive a higher incentive amount.

Other Agricultural Grants
The District also offers grant funding to equipment replacement and infrastructure installation projects during its annual solicitation cycle, which is usually open to applications in the spring. Applicants may apply for funding to replace heavy-duty diesel equipment or install charging infrastructure for electric equipment.
