Rules & Compliance

Yolo-Solano AQMD is responsible for protecting human health and property from the harmful effects of air pollution. It achieves this mission by adopting rules governing sources of air pollution and enforcing those rules.


The District, governed by a 14-member Board of Directors appointed by the counties and cities, establishes and amends its rules through a fully transparent process in accordance with state law.


The District’s compliance staff is tasked with enforcing those rules through inspections and other means. The District has also created certain compliance programs in order to ensure its rules are enforced in resource-effective ways.
