The Funding Agricultural Replacement Measures for Emission Reductions (FARMER) Program provides funding for agricultural harvesting equipment, tractors, and other equipment used in agricultural operations. FARMER is supported in part by California Climate Investments, a statewide program that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work. The FARMER Program is implemented as a partnership between the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and local air districts.
Since 2018, YSAQMD has managed the local FARMER Program and provided funding for the replacement of 26 tractors. The local program was updated in 2021, with changes included in the YSAQMD FARMER Policies and Procedures Manual below. Participation in the program is limited to one piece of equipment per operation or applicant each year and eligible projects will be selected for awards by random draw.
In 2021, YSAQMD was awarded $1,975,137 in funding. On June 8, 2022, the Board of Directors approved the funding for the 2022 FARMER Program projects. Applicants can expect award notification letters soon. See timeline below.
