2025 Annual Report

The work reflected in this 2025 Annual Report tells the story of a District that delivered meaningful progress through action, collaboration, and sustained commitment to protecting public health. The year marked a turning point for the District—defined by measurable improvements in air quality and deeper engagement with the communities we serve.

One of the most important milestones of the year was achieving attainment of the 2008 Federal Ozone Standard. This achievement reflects years of coordinated work with local businesses, neighboring air districts, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the California Air Resources Board. It delivers lasting regional benefits, including improved public health, cleaner air, protection of crops and natural resources, and continued eligibility for essential federal transportation and infrastructure funding. The milestone was recognized alongside partner air districts at a joint media event highlighting the collective effort required to achieve attainment.

In 2025, the District also expanded its direct investment in community health. With strong Board support, the District launched the Fresh Air for All – Home Air Filtration Pilot Program, distributing more than 700 air purifiers to residents throughout the District, with a focus on those living in disadvantaged communities. By working through trusted community locations and grassroots networks, the District helped provide immediate protection for households most vulnerable to wildfire smoke and poor air quality.

Grant funding remained a powerful tool for change. During the year, the District awarded more than $2.7 million in incentives to support cleaner equipment, cleaner transportation, and cleaner technologies—nearly half of which directly benefited low-income and disadvantaged communities. Compared to the prior year, vouchers funded through the Woodsmoke Reduction Program doubled, and projects for the Agricultural Chipping Program tripled, driven by expanded outreach, increased participation, and sustained engagement across both counties.
